The Battlefield

Updated: Nov 24

He turned and saw the sword still on the ground. He pleaded with her, “Why didn’t you pick it up?”. Don’t you care?

And Christ answered.

Because she knew.

Because she knew when she picked up your sword, she would feel purpose.

Because she knew she would fight your demons with all her strength for you.

Because she knew she would forgive you of the unforgivable, carrying your recourse.

Because she knew she would see the demons continue to drown your purpose as she distracted away from her own.

Because she knew she would become exhausted, lost, and empty.

Because she knew the only sword that belonged in her arms was her own.

Because she knew together, we battle her own demons with my guidance and protection.

Quite simply my son, because she knew it was not her sword to pick up.

When you look at the lines on her face, you will see the battle scars of the times she chose to pick up the wrong sword in her life.

When you look into her eyes, you will see my gifts to her, wisdom, and nurturing grace, which draw you close to her.

When you look at her smile, you see the joy of living her purpose. I will wipe her tears as she watches where your demons take you, replacing them with hope and strength.

She is my daughter, a child of God. Yes, she cares about you so much that she left the sword at your feet.

Pick up your own sword and let us begin the battle. Come to me, my sons and daughters.

I have a purpose for you beyond your ability to imagine.
