Here I sit, looking out my office window, absorbing the sense of peace and beauty. Spanish Peaks cast a shiny glow from the snow, mixed with the blues from the sky and the dark blue hues of the mountains. It's just breathtaking. Two teens just walked by dressed in their coats and stocking caps while eating their ice cream; I don't doubt they have already been to Charlie's this morning.
Looking through my photography, I spot a picture I took in 2018. I smiled inside. I am writing today from this street, where I now live. I wake up at 230 am, hoping it is 5 am so I can get up, go to the sunroom office, and absorb the reality of living here. Retirement in LaVeta has been a personal desire of mine for over 30 years. People have asked what brought you to La Veta? I answer, La Veta. It is not as if I really know anyone here, but I find the people as charming as the town. I can feel the creativity in the air. This community exudes it. The peace and simplicity of the small rural village provide such comfort. I met the forestry fellow across the street, I believe, said his name was Arthur. Arthur shared he thought this was a pretty hip little town. I had to chuckle, but I do very much agree with him.
There is a continual parade of people walking by the house. I wonder if this community is too healthy for me. LOL. It is still freezing out there even though the sun is shining! The sun provides an excellent heat source. I will join the walkers as it warms up. For now, I sit in shame as I smoke my cigarette at the back door steps. It is a habit I will soon have broken, as I have greatly improved since moving in. I, too, will join the healthy very soon. Chuckle.
Over the years, I have photographed the area. I will put some of the photography in the comments here. I just photographed the crocus and grape hyacinth that are blooming in February, on the sunny side of the house. Gotta love that!
Life offers us life-changing events. Some are rather unpleasant and unexpected. Often, I tend to forget something significant. Life also opens doors to life-changing events we get to choose. Events that provide peace and comfort. I saw God open a door, so I jumped and said, "God, here we go."
I am finally at home. There are moments in time, where dreams really do come true. nan*
